blathering on...

eating
QNI last night. featuring a trip to morrisons, a spot of wii fit, and some improvised cooking up of random bits and bobs into a tasty meal.

today, i have lunched on a delicious spinach soup that i whipped up whilst cooking dinner. domestic goddess, get me! i should remember to label my stock before freezing it though. sniffing ice is a tricky business. my mum never used to label hers either; i remember eagerly opening a tub of cornish icecream, spoon in hand, only to find.... quite.

i have just had my lovely soup for lunch. i should remember how much i like it, and avoid the overpriced, over processed sandwiches from the deli on the corner. and especially the crisps.

watched drag me to hell last night. it was ok, many moments of jumping out of my seat skin, but also terribly predictable.

i'm thinking of giving up the demon booze for a month. to even have a hope of managing this, i probably need someone to bet that i can't do it. hmm.

A bit spoilery so beware
Although I think the ending of Drag Me To Hell is predictable, nothing that happens on the way to the climax is... I think that's more the point of the film. The title pretty much gives the ending away!

Re: A bit spoilery so beware
i dunno, i got a bit weary... it seemed to follow a pretty standard path! but the jumpy moments are good. and i did close the windows before trying to sleep in case of a sudden demon breeze...

Re: A bit spoilery so beware
Or in case a fly goes up one of your nostrils and out the other.

I think it was the willingness of Sam Raimi to torture his lead and the inventiveness with which he does it that I loved the most. But that's what I love about all his films really.

Bet you can't give up booze for a month.

you have to bet *something* though. like, i dunno, you get to give me a buzz cut if i fail.

I can think of a much better prize but I'm not going to be so predictable as to write it down.. SHUT UP CHARLEY ok anyway the buzz cut idea sounds quite good, if only because, jeez, you'd bloody better not fail...

I'd straight edge Black Plastic with you if it was for a special cause e.g. the cause of not having to cut off all your lovely long hair..

I had an inkling that Drag Me To Hell might be more than a little predictable. Still a good job that Raimi has gone back to horror...

Giving up booze for a month? Blimey!!

(come out on Friday!!)

Also the one where you'll need a drink. I hate Feb.

I would like to give up booze for a bit in order to stop forgetting all my nights out and worrying constantly that I've been a complete shithead to everyone I know. But on the other hand I really like drinking. Maybe we should do a detox weekend or something.

yeah, it's the forgetting that's rubbish. and drink that's tasty!

i think, what i might do, nothing definite, no not at all, is not drink at all during the week from now, and then perhaps go for the month in august or september. it'd be a start...

But August's your birthday and September's Bestival!

ooooh yeah... we'll definitely forget september then! august could still be a goer. i have a wedding to attend on my birthday, so won't be doing anything immense myself. probably.

Hello there -- nice to meet you tonight. I see you're a fellow wii fit fan.

While you and companion were ransacking the restaurant, I was so mortified and in a hurry to leave that I left a bag full of books! Curses. I was feeling fitter already by reading a book about running marathons.

Thanks for the offer but I can walk down straight after work so all will be just fine. Unless of course, I'm detained while they investigate the affair of the missing chilli sauce.

ah, you'll be fine. i reckon it'll be an entirely different shift of people!
